[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘭𑘻𑘡𑘹𑘽 (soneṃ), from Apabhramsa सोण्णअ (soṇṇaa), from Sanskrit सौवर्ण (saúvarṇa). Cognate with Gujarati સોનું (sonũ), Hindi सोना (sonā).
