Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *seykʷ-os, from *seykʷ- (“to moisten, filter”) + *-os. Compare Ancient Greek ἰκμάς (ikmás), Old English sēon (“to filter”), Russian сцать (scatʹ, “to piss”). The Sanskrit root is सिच् (sic, “to moisten, pour out, sprinkle”).
