[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian سنجیده (sanjida) (compare سنجیدن (sanjidan, “to ponder, reflect”)), from Proto-Iranian *θanǰáyati, from Proto-Indo-European *t(ʰ)ongʰ-éye-ti, from *t(ʰ)engʰ- (“to draw, pull back”), perhaps an extension of *ten-.
