Etymology
[edit]Probably related to मूत (mūta, “bound; a woven basket”),[1][2] as well as Proto-Iranian *mauda- (“hair”) (whence Persian مو (mu, “hair”)).[3] Possibly related to मीव् (mīv, “to move”) as a form of "setting in motion by pushing and pressing (binding actions)".[1]
