[edit]Inherited from Sanskrit मशकहरी (maśakaharī, literally “mosquito remover”), from मशक (maśaka, “mosquito”) + हरी (harī, “remover”, from हर (hara, “removing”) + -ई (-ī, “doer”)). Cognate with Bengali মশারি (mośari), Assamese মহৰি (mohori), Odia ମସହରୀ (masahari), ମସାରୀ (masāri), Sindhi مَهَآرِي (mahārī).
