    Inherited from Prakrit 𑀤𑀁𑀢 (daṃta), from Sanskrit दन्त (danta), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hdántas, from Proto-Indo-European *h₃dónts, from *h₃ed- + *-ónts. Doublet of दंत (dant) and दंदान (dandān).
