[edit]From Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hdáns (“tooth”), from Proto-Indo-European *h₃dónts (“tooth”). Cognate with Persian دندان (dandân), Ancient Greek ὀδών (odṓn), Latin dēns, English tooth.
