[edit]Borrowed from Northwestern Indo-Aryan, from Prakrit 𑀤𑀳 (daha) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀮𑁆𑀮- (-illa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit दश (daśa). Compare दस (das, “ten”). Cognate with Nepali दहल (dahal).
