Borrowed from Classical Persian زمانه (zamāna), from Middle Persian [script needed] (ẕmʾnk' /⁠zamānag⁠/). Compare Gujarati જમાનો (jamāno), Hindustani ज़माना (zamānā) / زَمَانَہ (zamānā), Punjabi ਜ਼ਮਾਨਾ (zamānā) / زَمانہ (zamānh).
