[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀕𑀁𑀞𑀺 (gaṃṭhi) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-) + -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-), from Sanskrit ग्रन्थि (granthi).
