From Aramaic תְּלָתַעְסַר (təlāṯaʿsar). Equivalent to ܬܠܵܬܵܐ (tlātā, three) +‎ ܥܸܣܪܵܐ (ʿisrā, ten); compare Arabic ثَلَاثَةَ عَشَرَ (ṯalāṯata ʕašara) and Hebrew שְׁלֹשָׁה עָשָׂר (sh'loshá 'asár), Classical Syriac ܬܵܠܬܲܥܣܲܪ (tāltaˁsar).
