Etymology
[edit]From Aramaic תְּרֵעְסַר (tərēʿsār). Equivalent to ܬܪܹܝܢ (trēn, “two”) + ܥܸܣܪܵܐ (ˁisrā, “ten”); compare Arabic اِثْنَا عَشَرَ (iṯnā ʕašara) and Hebrew שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר (sh'ném 'asár).
