Etymology

From Aramaic תְּרֵעְסַר (tərēʿsār). Equivalent to ܬܪܹܝܢ (trēn, two) +‎ ܥܸܣܪܵܐ (ˁisrā, ten); compare Arabic اِثْنَا عَشَرَ (iṯnā ʕašara) and Hebrew שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר (sh'ném 'asár).
