Etymology
[edit]From Aramaic פּתִיחָא (pṯīḥā), equivalent to the passive participle of ܦܵܬ݂ܹܚ (pāṯēḥ, “to open”); compare Arabic مَفْتُوح (maftūḥ) and Hebrew פָּתוּחַ (patúakh).
