[edit]Learned borrowing from Classical Syriac ܣܝܩܘܡܐ (sēqōmā, “measure, amount, reckoning”) with the meaning changed, from Ancient Greek σήκωμα (sḗkōma); also borrowed into Arabic سَقُوم (saqūm).
