[edit]Feminine of ہڈا (haḍḍā), from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀳𑀟𑁆𑀟 (haḍḍa), from Sanskrit हड्ड (haḍḍa). Perhaps related to Sanskrit अस्थि (ásthi, “bone”), अष्ठि (aṣṭhi, “kernel”), अष्ठीवत् (aṣṭhīvat, “knee”).
