[edit]From Middle Persian [script needed] (prznd /frazand/, “child, son”) (Manichaean Middle Persian [script needed] (frzynd, przynd)), from Proto-Iranian *frazanti-, from Proto-Iranian *fra- (“forward, pro-”) + a root descended from Proto-Indo-European *ǵenh₁- (“to produce, give birth”).
