Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Persian سمید (semid, “semolina”) or Arabic سَمِيد (samīd, “semolina”), both from Aramaic סְמִידָא (səmīḏā), from Akkadian 𒆠𒅔𒆠𒅔𒄯𒄯 (/samīdu/, “a type of fine groats, coarse flour, semolina”).
