[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀲𑀭𑀺𑀲𑀯 (sarisava), from Sanskrit सर्षप (sarṣapa). Cognate with Assamese সবিয়হ (xobih), Bengali সরিষা (śoriśa), Gujarati સરસવ (sarsav), Marathi शिरीस (śirīs), and Punjabi سرھوں / Punjabi ਸਰ੍ਹੋਂ (sarhõ).
