[edit]Inherited from Middle Hindi سرسوں (srsvṉ /sarsõ/) (c. 1751),[1] from Old Hindi سرسوں (srsvṉ) (c. 1300s), from Prakrit 𑀲𑀭𑀺𑀲𑀯 (sarisava), from Sanskrit सर्षप (sarṣapa). Doublet of सर्षप (sarṣap), a tatsama.
