[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *bōńduruk (“yoke”), an unusual development of *bōń (“neck”), whence بویون (boyun, “neck”). Cognate with Azerbaijani boyunduruq, Kazakh мойынтұрық (moiyntūryq), Kyrgyz моюнтурук (moyunturuk), Turkmen boýuntyryk, Uyghur بويۇنتۇرۇق (boyunturuq) and Uzbek boʻyinturuq.
