[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *bukagu (“fetters, chain, string”); cognate with Azerbaijani buxov, Bashkir бығау (bığaw), Chuvash пӑхав (păh̬av), Kazakh бұғау (būğau), Uzbek boʻgʻov and Yakut бакаайы (bakaayı).
