Etymology 2
[edit]From Middle Persian [script needed] (bwlc /burz/, “high”), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *bʰerǵʰ-. Akin to Parthian 𐫁𐫇𐫡𐫉 (bwrz /burz/, “high, lofty”) and Old Georgian ბორცჳ (borcwi, “hill”), an Iranian borrowing.
