From the root of خَمْس (ḵams, “five”), taking a form that is common in adjectives: فَعِيل (faʕīl), as a phono-semantic matching of Classical Syriac ܚܰܡܶܫ ܒܫܱܒܴ݁ܐ (ḥammeš bəšabbā). Displaced مُؤْنِس (muʔnis).
