Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *pel(H)-nu-mi, from the root *pleh₁-. Close cognates include Lithuanian pìlti (to pour), Latvian pilēt (to drip). Related to ողողեմ (ołołem) and probably յեղց (yełcʻ).
