From ҫиччӗ (śiččĕ, seven) +‎ -мӗш (-mĕš, ordinal suffix), compare Bulgar [script needed] (ciyetiş, seventh).[1]

Cognate with Khalaj yîettiminci, Turkish yedinci, Uzbek yettinchi, Bashkir етенсе (yetense) and Yakut сэттис (settis).
