Inherited from Bulgar جىات (cyēti, seven),[1] itself inherited from Proto-Turkic *yẹt(t)i (seven).[2][3]

Cognate with Khalaj yêtti, Turkish yedi, Uzbek yetti, Bashkir ете (yete) and Yakut сэттэ (sette).
