Bulgarian

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Borrowed from Russian руга́ть (rugátʹ), which is a doublet of ръга́я (rǎgája) (inherited), ultimately from Proto-Slavic *rǫgati.

Superficially also resembles Bulgarian ръ́гам (rǎ́gam, to prod), however, their semantics don't match exactly.
