Usage notes

In the negative, this verb also has a colloquial usage with a present-tense (instead of future-tense) meaning: Я не пойму́ (Ja ne pojmú, “I don't understand”).

The form по́няла (as opposed to standard поняла́) is sometimes heard colloquially.
