Etymology

Cognate with Erzya лоськавтомс (lośkavtoms, id.). According to Veršinin, the root лось- is of onomatopoeic origin just like лаж- in лажновтомс (lažnovtoms), compare Moksha лозямс (loźams, to pour).[1]
