Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic въскрьснѫти (vŭskrĭsnǫti), from Proto-Slavic *vъzkrьsnǫti. By surface analysis, вос- (vos-) +‎ крес (kres) +‎ -нуть (-nutʹ).
