Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Slavic *brỳzgati. Of onomatopoeic origin. Compare Bulgarian бръ́згам (brǎ́zgam), Czech brýzhati, Polish bryzgać, Slovene brízgati, Ukrainian бризгати (bryzhaty).
