Inherited from Byzantine Greek φανερώνω (phanerṓnō), from Koine Greek φανερῶ (phanerô),[1] contracted form of Ancient Greek φᾰνερόω (phaneróō). By surface analysis, φανερ(ός) (faner(ós)) +‎ -ώνω (-óno).
