[edit]Inherited from Koine Greek σύγγαμβρος (súngambros), from συγ- (sug-) + γαμβρός (gambrós), with alteration of -μβρ- to -μπρ- like γαμβρός (gamvrós) → γαμπρός (gamprós).[1]
