[edit]Learned borrowing from Koine Greek συμβιβασμός (sumbibasmós, “conciliation, reconciliation”) with semantic loan from French compromis and English compromise.[1] By surface analysis, συμβιβασ- (stem of συμβιβάζω (symvivázo)) + -μός (-mós).
