Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Byzantine Greek ἐμπορῶ (emporô), ἠμπορῶ (ēmporô), ultimately from Ancient Greek εὐπορέω (euporéō, “to thrive, prosper, find means”) (with a folk etymology connection to ἔμπορος m (émporos, “merchant”)).
