Inherited from Byzantine Greek κερατώνω (keratṓnō), from Koine Greek κερατῶ (keratô) / κεραόω (keraóō, harden into horn), from κέρας (kéras, horn).[1] Compare similar horn-related terms in French (cocufier) and Italian (fare le corna).
