[edit]Learned borrowing from Byzantine Greek κατάπληκτος (katáplēktos), from Ancient Greek κᾰτᾰπλήσσω (kataplḗssō, “to flabbergast, amaze”) + -τος (-tos), the former from κατα- (kata-) + πλήσσω (plḗssō).[1]
