Etymology

[edit]

Learned borrowing from Ancient Greek ἐπανα- (epana-) from prepositions ἐπ(ί) (ep(í)) + ἀνά (aná). By surface analysis, επ- (ep-) +‎ ανα- (ana-),[1] but the meaning is always used idiomatically.

Prefix

[edit]

επανα- (epana-)

  1. re- (used before verbs and their derived nouns to indicate that their function starts again after a break)
επανα- (epana-) + ‎λαμβάνω (lamváno, receive) → ‎επαναλαμβάνω (epanalamváno, repeat)
επανα- (epana-) + ‎συνδέω (syndéo, connect) → ‎επανασυνδέω (epanasyndéo, reconnect)
επανα- (epana-) + ‎σύνδεση (sýndesi, connection) → ‎επανασύνδεση (epanasýndesi, reconnection)
