[edit]Learned borrowing from Ancient Greek ἐνδέχεται (endékhetai), 3rd singular person of ἐνδέχομαι (endékhomai, “take upon oneself, accept”). By surface analysis, εν- (“in”) + δέχομαι (“receive”).
