βέβαιος
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Related to βῆναι (bênai) and thus βαίνω (baínō, “step”), though the exact morphology is uncertain.[1] One theory derives the word from βεβᾰ- (beba-), short-vowel grade of the stem of βέβηκα (bébēka, “stand”), the perfect of βαίνω (baínō, “step”), + -ιος (-ios).
