Etymology
[edit]Byzantine Greek ἀψιθία (apsithía) with synizesis of /ia/ to avoid hiatus, from Koine Greek ἀψινθία f (apsinthía) with similation of [nθ] > [θθ] and simplification [θθ] > [θ].[1][2] Also see ἀψίνθιον (apsínthion).
