ακουμπιστήρι

Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Byzantine Greek ἀκουμπιστήρι[1] < ἀκουμβιστήριον, from verb ἀκουμβίζω.[2][3] By surface analysis, ακουμπάω/ακουμπώ, stem ακουμπισ- from ακουμπίζω (“to touch”) + -τήρι (-tíri), following the example of similar tool nouns with that suffix such as σκαλιστήρι (skalistíri, “hoe”) and ποτιστήρι (potistíri, “watering”).
