Etymology
[edit]From the similarity of the stigma (Ϛ), a Byzantine ligature of the common Greek consonant cluster σ-τ using sigma's lunate form ϲ, with the medieval variant of the numerical form of digamma (), employed in Greek numerals for the value six, its place in the epichoric Milesian Greek alphabet (where it was more often written Ϝ).

Usage notes
[edit]The Greek numbers from 1 to 999 are properly marked using the Greek numeral sign κεραία (keraía) ( ʹ ), though they may also be found with the tonos ( ΄ ) or apostrophe ( ' ).
