[edit]From the Ancient Greek Λᾰ́κων (Lákōn, “Laconian”), of uncertain origin + -ία (-ía).[1] The Ancient Greek term for Λακωνία (Lakonía) is ἡ (hē) "Λακωνική (Lakōnikḗ), sc. γῆ (gê)" (the land of the Lacons) or "Λακεδαίμων (Lakedaímōn) γῆ f (gê)". Also see the Latin Laconia.
