Etymology

From the Ancient Greek Λᾰ́κων (Lákōn, Laconian), of uncertain origin + -ία (-ía).[1] The Ancient Greek term for Λακωνία (Lakonía) is () "Λακωνική (Lakōnikḗ), sc. γῆ ()" (the land of the Lacons) or "Λακεδαίμων (Lakedaímōn) γῆ f ()". Also see the Latin Laconia.
