"Ancient Greek"
[edit]Are the forms and langs correct?
- Ancient Greek: Λακωνία
The old ref doesn't have it and LSJ doesn't seem to have it either.
old ref: Woodhouse, S. C. (1910) English–Greek Dictionary: A Vocabulary of the Attic Language[1], London: Routledge & Kegan Paul Limited, page 1,014 - Alternative forms: Τσακωνιά (Tsakōniá)
Originally it was the following without lang code:
Alternative spellings: Τσακωνιά (Tsakonian)
The old addition in brackets seems to state it's Tsakonian (code tsd) and not Greek (code grc).

- Dear 84!! How nice to see you again. Thanks for teaching me 'langcat'.
- Yes, you are right: I do not think there is an ancient word Λακωνία but i need to check more... I remember η Λακεδαίμων.
- Τσακωνιά is a modern word, not ancient. (Τσακωνία medieval), that much I know. As for codes... I do not know.
- Need to do some reading for this Λακωνία. Tomorrow. sarri.greek (talk) 00:32, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
- So, thanks to your observations, 84.161.49.148, I spent some time looking up the 2 words. Took notes too.
- Ancient word Λακωνία not found.
- word Τσακωνιά is modern, Τσακωνία is mediaeval. Not ancient alternative.
- I presume, all the ancient section of the lemma should be erased? Does anyone have a better Proper noun Dictionary? sarri.greek (talk) 10:53, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
