Etymology
[edit]Compare Ottoman Turkish چاقی (čaqï), Talysh çəxo, Persian چاقو. Attested in a wide range of Iranic and Indic varieties, cf Hindi चाकू (cākū).[1] Unrelated to Mongolian цах (cax, “a prop, a support, a pole, a pile”).[2]
