Etymology

First attested in 1896. Borrowed from German Wurstelprater. Suffixed with -i to resolve the word-final consonant cluster, compare cetli from Bavarian zettl or German Zettel (/⁠ˈt͡sɛtl̩⁠/) etc.[1]
