Etymology 1

Possibly from a Vulgar Latin root *orma or Late Latin osma, ultimately from Ancient Greek ὀσμή (osmḗ) . Compare Aromanian urmã, Megleno-Romanian urmă, Istriot urma, Italian orma, also Spanish husma, Venetan usma and Friulian olme.
