[edit]From Old Swedish tokt, tukt, same as Danish tugt, Norwegian tukt, Old Norse tykt, from Middle Low German tucht (“upbringing”), Old High German zuht, German Zucht, Old English tyht (“upbringing”), Gothic 𐍄𐌹𐌿𐌷𐌰𐌽 (tiuhan).
