Italian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From trem(are) (“to shiver”) + -ito (to nominalise the verb). This is based on a pattern found in a couple of other common nouns that came from verb-derived Latin nouns: gemito and fremito. This pattern is also found in battito, from battere.[1]
